The esteem and trust Prof. A. T. Beck – the well-known father of cognitive therapy – has for Dr. Antonella Montano allowed her to found this Institute of cognitive-behavioural therapy in Rome and named after him.
In accordance with the American Institute in Philadelphia presided over by Prof. Beck himself, the “Istituto A. T. Beck” of Rome has among its basic goals that of giving its students training based on the most recent and up-to-date developments in cognitive-behavioural psychotherapy. |

| Objectives and programme of the course |
|
The programme of the specialization course is designed for the theoretical and practical preparation of students, in the clinical and scientific research field.
During the four years the theoretical part of the course will cover the disorders during the entire life cycle, (childhood, adolescence, adulthood, ageing).
T he total amount of hours per year is 500, as decried by the Ministry, divided into 350 hours of theoretical lessons and 150 of internship in public or private facilities the Istituto Beck affiliated with.
From the first year each student will acquire the ability to follow a clinical case autonomously , from diagnosis to follow-up.

It provides for the acquisition of good psychodiagnostic skills through teaching and the effective use of a wide range of tests, available at our site, that are specific for adults, children and adolescents (MMPI-2, CBA 2, Eysenck, Millon, SCID 2, WAIS-R, WISC-R, Raven matrices, Reading test MT, Rey memory reactives etc.). |

It confronts the treatment of eating disorders both from a theoretical point of view and in the practical management. Educational courses for a well-balanced eating with practical exercises will be organized in the kitchen of the Institute. |

Research activity. Students who wish to can participate in the research projects of the Institute step-by-step: from methodology to research on the field, up to publication in scientific reviews and/or presentation to national and international congresses of the data. |

At the same time, students are taught the IT skills necessary for participating in clinical research teams, for publishing scientific articles in specialized journals, preparing oral papers, and posters for national and international congresses. |
